Improving Regulatory Awareness
Thanks to AMPC funding we have improved regulatory awareness by providing
- presentations to abattoir inspection and auditing staff at the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR) On-Plant Veterinarian Professional Development weekends and to the broader Department’s staff at their Get Wise seminars.
- providing Industry Awareness Tours to Canberra-based Meat Program and Market Access officers.
We’ve also improved the industry’s regulatory awareness by providing Regulatory Affairs Webinars for Quality Assurance staff. These webinars covered:

Improving Food Safety Requirements
Through AMPC – MLA joint funded projects and support from Industry partners we have conducted food safety surveillance projects. These research projects have covered all aspects of food safety from the animal’s health through process control.
- Collection and reporting of inspection data for continuous improvement and productivity throughout the beef supply chain
- Alternative Onchocerca gibsoni detection and management in Cattle
- Review of current food safety microbiological sites and the establishment of a more meaningful measure to assess hygienic production
