Dr Elizabeth Wilcock
Director and Food and Veterinary Consultant
Elizabeth set up Food and Veterinary Services in 2015. Recently she has worked on projects around animal health data collection, the development of producer sustainability standards including animal welfare practices, the writing of reports for meat science projects and the development of market access submissions for China. Formerly she worked for the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources for seven years including as the Director – Program Manager for the Export Meat Program. This role involved supporting the meat industry through fair, even and just regulation of the export meat industry. This included regulating animal health and welfare, food safety, traceability practices and market access requirements. She was a member of the Review Committee for the Industry Animal Welfare Standards, a member of the working group to develop a national animal welfare standard under the Animal Welfare Committee of SCOPI, a member of AAWS and as required Emergency Disease Consultative Committee during this period. Elizabeth was the Department’s representative at Codex for the development of import and export standards and represented the Department at the Meat Standards Committee working closely with state regulatory bodies. She managed overseas market trade audits for four years including from the European Union, USA, Japan and China. She also represented Australia in trade negotiations. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Science, a Diploma in Project Management and a certificate in National Food Safety Auditing including lead auditor qualifications.
Dr Belinda Curby
Food and Veterinary Consultant
Belinda has been a member of the Food and Veterinary Services team since 2015. Recently her work has included projects on animal health data collection, writing training materials on customer requirements and presentations on ‘Identification of Emergency Animal Diseases’. She has also conducted a literature review on Australia’s microbiological testing requirements and a project to improve our sampling practices. Formerly she worked for the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources for three and a half years including as the Acting Director – Animal Health and Food Safety for the Export Meat Program. Belinda also has experience with the agricultural and veterinary chemical program within the Department. Belinda holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Science, Bachelor of Business (Economics and Accounting), Graduate Certificate in Public Administration and National Food Safety Auditor qualifications.
Gabrielle Sherring
Junior Consultant
Gabrielle joined the Food and Veterinary Services after graduating from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience. She majored in Livestock Production and gained first class honours with her project that involved assessing the ability of a novel vaccine component to activate the immune system, which has future applications in the control of Johne’s Disease. Gabrielle was raised on a beef property located South of Dubbo, NSW, and has previously worked closely with livestock producers and industry professionals in work experience roles. Gabrielle made her introduction to our team at the 2019 Intercollegiate Meat Judging Competition in Wagga, where she placed in the Pricing and Commercial Evaluation champion team.
Red Dog
Office Manager
Red Dog is a 2 year old RSPCA special. She loves coming to work, in fact woofers at Elizabeth if she hasn’t left for the office in time in the morning rounding her up and out the front door. Red Dog enjoys making the office friendly and warm, whilst keeping us working.
